Please note that these pages will appear in ‘computer language’ and is only accessible through a RSS ‘reader’ or ‘aggregator’. Read on to find out how to download one of these pieces of software.

Why are RSS feeds better than newsletter updates?

Perhaps you already receive information on website updates through some sort of email newsletter. RSS feeds are preferable to newsletter updates because they are instantaneous and you don't have to wait until a designated day of the week to receive your summary.

RSS feeds are used daily by people who realize the convenience of up-to-the-minute news and reports and the time they can save reading only those updates that interest them, and they look to become even more popular in the future.

RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication. It is a way of delivering material electronically, through a piece of software to your computer. Once you have set it up, which takes just a few minutes, the software will display the latest news from Newhallcommunity.org.uk with a summary and link back to this site which will show you the full story.

Once you have set up the news feed, our headlines will constantly be updated in your 'RSS reader' (whenever you are connected to the internet) without you having to do anything. This means you don't have to keep revisiting this site just to check for news updates. They come direct to you; unless you request to unsubscribe from the service.

To view our RSS feeds you will need special software called a 'feed reader' or 'feed aggregator'. Feed readers can be downloaded free from the internet - just use a search engine to look for one suitable for your computer, or use one of these popular versions:

WINDOWS

MAC OS X

WEB-BASED

Please note that Newhallcommunity.org.uk is not responsible for the content of external internet sites or services.

Once you have installed a reader you can add Newhallcommunity.org.uk RSS feeds, along with feeds from other providers (many people use the BBC's RSS feeds, for instance). Setting up a feed differs from one reader/aggregator to another, but the next step usually involves copying the URL of the feed (given at the top of this page) and pasting it into the reader.

You will be able to access instructions on exactly how to do this once you have downloaded your reader or aggregator.

Help For Heroes

Help For Heroes

Help for heroes is a campaign that was set up to raise £6 million to build a Gymnasium and Swimming Pool for use by our Service men and women who return wounded from Iraq and Afghanistan some of them have lost limbs some are severely burned and some of them have been traumatised by what they have seen and been involved in.

The Rehabilitation Centre is in Headley Court in Surry it is for all branches of the Services. The Gymnasium will be fitted with the latest equipment to deal with any injury that the staff will have to deal with and the Swimming Pool will also be kitted out with the latest equipment for any injury that requires water treatment.

Help for Heroes is strictly non-political: we are leaving the talking to the politicians while we get on with raising a great deal of money to directly support our service men and women.

I have been selling Help for Heroes Wristbands since November 2007, I am sure you must have seen them in the Sun newspaper and often on the TV. If you want to know more about the Campaign please click Here.

If anyone would like to purchase the now popular Help for Heroes Wristbands please ring me on 01283 219563 or e-mail me at aljeffrey@talktalk.net
