The Band is standing outside the Church Army Centre that was situated in Main Street on the opposite side to the Memorial Hall near to the junction with Oversetts Road. The hall is now replaced with houses.

Chapel built in 1813 for the Wesleyans but purchased by the Plymouth Brethren in 1883 it was demolished on May 3rd 1965.

St Edwards School: This school was situated down the bottom end of Oversetts Road, on the left-hand side just past the Crown Inn. The School was demolished at the end of the twentieth century and replaced with houses.

An old photograph of Four Lane Ends, showing Robinsons store now a ladies hairdressers. The road on the left is the High Street with Maypole Hill the lane on the right. At the top of Maypole Hill was said to stand the old Newhall Manor House. The ivy-covered house is now demolished.

Countess of Chesterfield built the Memorial Hall in Main Street in 1875 in memory of her husband and son. The Hall has been used as a school, library, mines training, and many more uses. It is now the property of the County Council having taken it over from the local council when it fell into a poor state of repair.

A later view of the High Street at the Old Post. The Post Office has now moved to its present position and in its place was Maybelles Ladies Hair dressers. The first shop on the right was Watson`s shop and next door was a shoe repair shop. Further up the street, on the left, can be seen the sight for the Supermarket and the Doctors surgery.

An old photograph of Oversetts Road at the junction with Alma Road on the right and John Street on the left. The bottom left of the picture shows one of the many small shops that existed in Newhall and further up just past the wooden fencing can be seen the Spread Eagle pub that is now closed but the building is still standing. The first building on the right shows the Oversetts Inn; this stood on the corner of Alma Road but was demolished due to subsidence.

Hawfield Pipe Works Founded in 1890, closed in the 1970s.The pipe works was founded by Nadins, then Purchased by a Mr Brown, Merged with Hepworth Ltd in 1974 and closed a few years later.

This is an old picture of the Klondyke Bretby Brick and Stoneware Factory that provided work for some of the people in Newhall. The factory was extended later as the orders for its products increased but in 1995 the factory was closed down some of the old buildings remain but are in a poor state.

Mats Yard Colliery Newhall stood in fields opposite the Thorntree Pub. Sunk in 1854 it is shown on a map of 1888 as being disused on this 1906 card (where the caption is correctly spelled) the winding, boiler house and offices are seen. The colliery was owned by Nadins, and is beleived to have been an air and supply shaft for their nearby colliery.

This Nadins pit, although the people of Newhall regarded it as a Newhall pit, it was situated at the end of Oversetts Road just over the boundary into Stanton. Closed 1927.

This map shows Hawfields Brick and Pipe Works in the centre of map with Nadins Dirt bank at the bottom end of the Pipe Works. Top left can be seen Hawfields farm and moving to the right of the farm can be seen the cricket pavilion and the cricket ground. Just below the cricket ground was the clay pit and many cricket balls where lost in that pit. The dotted path next to the number 275, led to John Street. Moving over to the right-hand side of the map can be seen the position of Nadins pit And Stoney Dale Farm.

The Stanhope building on the left of the picture is now private dwelling. The Angel was demolished and new housing erected. The same fate happened to the Holly Bush pub to the right of the picture.

This view also shows the tramlines in the street outside the Angel pub, the lines continuing on down the cutting to Sunnyside in the distance. On the right of the cutting is the site of the old Mats Yard pit. The Co-op shop can be seen on the other side of the road to the Angel Inn. Both the Angel and the Co-op have now been replaced with houses.

The Horse and Jockey pub that stood in a yard at the top of Meadow Lane near to the Newhall Church. It was demolished earlier in this century.

This old picture shows part of the Swan Inn (bottom right hand corner) and at the top right hand can be seen the Jug outdoor beer licence shop. Coming down the road just below the Jug was the opening to Bill Dents blacksmiths.
